CITY & GUILDS

There are two City & Guilds degrees: IESOL and ISESOL.

The first, IESOL International ESOL examinations, are written exams that are taken in pen & paper format but also via computer in authorized centers (there are some restrictions from the Ministry of Education regarding the venue).

The second, ISESOL International Spoken ESOL examinations, are oral exams that are taken in authorized centers (there are specific restrictions for this exam from the Ministry of Education for foreign language schools, but the process is still under discussion).

In order to obtain the desired City & Guilds level and be accepted into ASEP, one must pass both degrees (IESOL & ISESOL).

The exams are given 6 times a year (every 2 months). The results are announced in about 5 weeks. The degrees are issued in about 2 months. The grades that the candidate receives are First Class Pass, Pass or Fail. If someone fails one of the two exams (IESOL or ISESOL) they will retake only the exam they failed in the next exam period.
