Since May 2011, the Greek Language Center has been organizing exams for six levels of Greek language: A1 (A1 for children from 8 to 12 years old and A1 for teenagers and adults), A2, B1, B2, C1 and C2.

The levels correspond to the levels of the Public, completing the Working Greek Workshop, students will indicatively be able to: European Framework of Reference for the Languages of the Council of Europe.

The Working Greek Workshop is a specialized section of the Greek program of the Hellenic American Union. It is aimed at non-native speakers and focuses exclusively on professional terminology, language structures and communication skills required in the modern work environment.

By completing the Working Greek Workshop, students will be able to:

• they easily exchange basic information on everyday work issues,

• introduce themselves to a workplace or speak in simple terms about business appointments, their educational and professional profile or understand discussions and expressions used in the work environment,

• compile their CV (CV) in Greek and participate in a professional interview simulation with a native speaker of the language.

The workshop is part of the Greek program of the Hellenic American Union. It was designed exclusively for beginners and focuses on basic vocabulary, simple structures and everyday expressions to meet their first communication needs.

By completing the Basic Greek workshop, students will be able to:

• familiarize themselves with the Greek alphabet,

• they understand and use familiar, everyday expressions,

• speak in simple terms about themselves, their immediate environment and issues of immediate need,

• they communicate in a simple way with interlocutors who speak with a slow and clear speech.

The program aims at the A1 level of the Greek language, as described by the Common European Framework of Reference (KEPA) and is part of the wider Greek course program of the Hellenic American Union. It aims to practice, understand and produce written and spoken language and is based on the use of new trends in the field of educational technology and foreign language teaching.

After the program is completed, students will now have the ability to open a dialogue on key topics such as introducing themselves or introducing someone, talking about themselves, their family and things that open up to them.

The program aims at the A2 level of the Greek language, as described by the Common European Framework of Reference (KEPA) and is part of the wider Greek course program of the Hellenic American Union. It involves practicing comprehension and the production of written and spoken language and is based on the use of new trends in the field of educational technology and foreign language teaching.

After completing the A2 program, students will be able to:

• To communicate in a simple way about routine or immediate needs issues as well as aspects of their lives.

• To express itself in writing in a simple and clear manner

• To understand the general meaning of simple conversations

The program aims at level B1 of the Greek language, as described by the Common European Framework of Reference (KEPA) and is part of the wider Greek course program of the Hellenic American Union. The Program includes practice in understanding and producing written and spoken language and is based on the use of new trends in the field of educational technology and foreign language teaching.

After the program is completed, students now:

• will be able to communicate about everyday issues and issues that are more familiar to them. E.g. work, current affairs, hobby family.

• will be able to understand texts that contain language structures that are usually found in speech, such as the work environment and everyday communication situations.

• will be able to understand basic written texts that focus on habits, time management, work, etc.

The program corresponds to level B2 of the Greek language, as described by the Common European Framework of Reference (KEPA) and is part of the wider Greek course program of the Hellenic American Union. It involves practice in understanding and producing written and spoken language based on new trends in the field of educational technology and foreign language teaching.

After the program is completed, students now:

• will be able to write a clear, detailed and readable text on a wide range of topics and develop a view more extensively by presenting the advantages and disadvantages of various options.

• will be able to interact with a degree of fluency and spontaneity with the native speakers of the Greek language without creating problems in communication

• will be able to understand the main ideas of a complex text that examines specific as well as abstract topics, possibly more technical discussions in a field of specialization.

The program aims at level C1 of the Greek language, as described by the Common European Framework of Reference (KEPA) and is part of the wider Greek course program of the Hellenic American Union. It involves practice in understanding and producing written and spoken language based on new trends in the field of educational technology and foreign language teaching.

After the program is completed, students now:

• will be able to express themselves fluently and spontaneously using language flexibly and effectively for social, academic and professional purposes

• will be able to understand a wide range of demanding and longer texts, as well as identify both the deeper meaning and the individual, finer nuances,

• will be able to draw up clear, detailed and well-structured texts dealing with complex topics, showing a variety of organizational methods, coherence and the use of coherence mechanisms.

The program corresponds to level B2 of the Greek language, as described by the Common European Framework of Reference (KEPA) and is part of the wider Greek course program of the Hellenic American Union. It involves practice in understanding and producing written and spoken language based on new trends in the field of educational technology and foreign language teaching.

After the program is completed, students now:

• will be able to produce clear, detailed and well-structured texts dealing with complex topics, showing a variety of organizational methods, coherence and the use of coherence mechanisms.

• will be able to easily understand almost everything they hear or read in Greek,

• will be able to summarize information from different oral and written sources, reconstructing the arguments in a coherent presentation,

• will be able to express themselves spontaneously, fluently and accurately, distinguishing the finer conceptual nuances even in more complex communicative situations.
