The Examination Service for non-French speakers of the aforementioned University has been operating by legislative decree since 1959 and proposes examinations which certify knowledge of the French language, French literature and French culture.

The Sorbonne University (Paris IV) has had the right since 1961 to issue five diplomas signed by the Rector of the Universities of Paris, the President of the University and the President of the Commission-Director of the Examination Service of the said University.

SORBONNE B1

Information for SORBONNE B1

The candidate who has 50/100 passes, while he is excluded if he has less than 05 in any test regardless of the average. (which also applies to DELF).

This applies to all Sorbonne diplomas now except for Sorbonne C1 where the candidate must definitely have 15/75 in the written and 05/25 in the oral to not be excluded. It is no longer true that the candidate must have passed the written to give the oral. Everyone appears in all tests and the score is offset.

Comprehension Orale

with various types of exercises: pronunciation, intonation, text comprehension... this test is 25/100

Langue

grammar exercises that mainly concern the first part of grammar (pronouns, adjectives, prepositions) as well as tenses mainly Présent, Imparfait, Passé Composé, Futur Simple... and this test is 25/100

Production Orale

Description of an image or a short text (although it is usually an image) and a short analysis of the subject of the image - analogous to the DELF B1 oral. Score 25/100.

Compréhension Écrite – Production Écrite

comprehension of a literary text aimed mainly at a young audience or simplified texts with multiple-choice comprehension and vocabulary questions. After the text, there is an essay on a descriptive topic related to the text (usually 120-150 words) and this part is scored 25/100.

Information for SORBONNE B2

The Sorbonne – B2 is addressed to all candidates whose level is that of the DELF – B1. It requires 500-600 hours of teaching French as a foreign language.

SORBONNE B2

Holders of this diploma are classified at level C of the ASEP and, if they wish, may enroll in French Universities. Of course, holders of the Sorbonne C1, C2 or the DALF C1, C2 have priority. It should be noted that holders of the Sorbonne B2 are exempted from the language exams if they wish to continue at the Sorbonne C1 level. In this case, they only appear in the written literature tests as well as in the oral tests in both literature and culture (an authentic everyday text).

It provides the possibility of admission to a specialty and proves that its holder can attend higher studies. It provides the right to directly enroll in French Universities and the right to enroll in Sorbonne C2++.

SORBONNE C2++

Information for SORBONNE C2++

It requires possession of a high school diploma or French baccalaureate or an equivalent secondary education qualification as well as the Sorbonne C2.

Each examinee, in addition to the good use of the French language, acquires techniques and working methods such as those of the 1st and 2nd levels of the first year of French Literature (LMD). The holder, upon application, obtains equivalence of levels 1 and 2 of French Philology of the said University.
